Betty J. (Darrah) Gizzi passed away at the Winchester Nursing Home in Winchester, MA on December 26, 2011. She was 82 years of age. Betty was born in Stoneham on June 24, 1929 to the late Shepherd & Olive (Hillier) Darrah. Betty was raised in Melrose, attended Melrose schools and has been a lifelong resident. Mrs. Gizzi worked as a secretary at Diane Cole Dance School for over 15 years and was a volunteer at St. Mary's Rectory in Melrose for many years. Betty enjoyed baking, playing bingo, and taking an occasional trip to Foxwoods. Mrs. Gizzi was predeceased by her husband Stan on December 12th of this year. She was the mother of Virginia McEnery & her husband Stephen of NJ, Patricia Coburn of Melrose and Dennis M. Horgan & his wife Carolyn of Wakefield. Sister of Geraldine Marshall of Reading. Also survived by 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Saturday December 31st at 10AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. Interment to follow at Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
