John F. Moylan of Peabody, formerly of Melrose, Malden & Jamaica Plain, died on Jan. 6, 2012 at the age of 87. John was born and raised in Jamaica Plain and a graduate of High School of Commerce in Boston, Class of 1942. He joined the Army after high School, serving as a Company Clerk with the 101st Infantry and was in the Battle of the Bulge. After returning from the war, John earned his degree from Boston University, Class of 1949. He worked as an Underwriting Manager for the Arkwright-Boston Insurance Company in Waltham for 38 years, working his way up to Regional Vice President, before retiring at age of 63. John was the head of the CCD program at Sacred Heart's Church in Malden for many years. He was the beloved husband of Elsa A. (Bishop) Moylan. Loving father of Carol E. Moylan of VA, Nancy L. Connors & her husband William of Peabody, John P. Moylan & his wife Carol of Milton, Thomas A. Moylan & his wife Christina of Melrose, Kenneth J. Moylan & his wife Joanne of Reading and Laura J. Sampson & her husband Roland of Melrose. Devoted brother of Kathleen Moylan of W. Roxbury, Joseph Moylan & his wife Patricia of FL and the late Thomas Moylan & his wife Rose and the late Dorothy Berg & her husband John. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 w. Foster St., Melrose on Wednesday Jan. 11th at 8AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 9AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours on Tuesday from 4-8PM. Entombment in Holy Cross Mausoleum Cemetery, Malden. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in John's name to the Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B102, Danvers, MA 01923.
