The profound impact of uncle Bub's passing is for me a reflection of the influence he had on all who knew or loved him. Bub was a naturally warm and engaging gentleman, whose charm and wit put folks at ease. Although neither loud nor emotive, he could "light up the room", and at family gatherings he was known to elicit smiles from even the most shy and taciturn of his nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. He was also a man of intellect and dedication; a family man, a hard worker and pillar of the community. But what meant the most to me were the occasions when I saw him with his siblings and witnessed the love and regard they had for each other, and the times when he corralled all of the squirelly kids at the cottage at Marshfield and led us to the beach. For on those occasions he reinforced the ideal that my own father represented, and provided another firm and comforting example that faith and love were the foundations upon which to build a life, an identity, a family and a legacy.

When he returned to pick us up, there was a bird's nest blocking the heating duct. I expected a lot of off color words and clanging of tools as he removed the nest and fixed the duct.
Instead, he got the job done quietly and efficiently.
If I were to use two words to describe your father, they would be "dignity" and "integrity".
My condolences to all of your family; your mom, John, Nancy, Tom, Kenny, Laura, and you, my dear friend.
Your father was truly a great patriarch who left an even greater posterity.

John, Carol, Nancy, Tom, Ken and Laura-Our thoughts are with you. Your dad will be missed, but thoughts of him will always bring a smile to my face.

To my Aunt Elsa, my cousins and their family, my sympathy to all of you. Uncle Bub, You are a part of so many special memories. Thoughts and prayers to my beautiful Aunt Elsa and my wonderful cousins.

I worked at Arkwright many years ago and John was one of the most respected individuals in Mangement by all my co-workers and myself. He was a good man. My prayers are with his Family, I am sure he will be dearly missed. God Bless.

To my dear "Ant" Elsa, Carol, Nancy, John, Tom, Ken, Laura, all their spouses and children, I am so sad for your loss and will keep you in my prayers each day. May you find great comfort in remembering "Unk" as the wonderful, generous man he always was to one and all.

My sincere condolences. John was the most kind and gentle person that I had the pleasure of meeting while I was employed as Risk Manager at Digital Equipment Corporation (while John was at Arkwright-Boston).
