Rose A. (Fulchino) Camerlengo passed away at the Fitch Home in Melrose on Wednesday, January 11, 2012. She was 89 years of age. Rose was born in Boston on July 8, 1922 to the late Anthony & Margaret (Russo) Fulchino, raised in East Boston and graduated from Boston Trade School.
Mrs. Camerlengo worked as a seamstress for over 30 years in downtown Boston for the June Sportswear Company and made many of her daughters and granddaughters dresses throughout the years. Rose lived in Winthrop with her husband Ralph for over 30 years before moving to Melrose in 1988 after her husband passed away.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt who cherished the times spent with her family. She loved to bake, especially around the holidays, enjoyed cooking, playing cards and going to bingo with her sister and sister-in-law. Mrs. Camerlengo loved her yearly trips to Las Vegas and spending winters in California with her sister Florence.
Rose was the beloved wife of the late Ralph R. Camerlengo. Loving mother of Philip J. Camerlengo & his wife Elizabeth of Melrose, Linda M. Penza & her husband James of Saugus and the late Louise Camerlengo. Devoted grandmother of Matthew, Michael & Jill Camerlengo and Stephanie & Tracey Penza. Great grandmother of Isobel Penza. Sister of Tino Fulchino of Medford, Sue Arena of Saugus and the late Ann Lamattina, Florence O'Keefe, Joseph, John and Fred Fulchino. Also survived by numerous nieces & nephews.
A funeral will be held from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Tuesday, January 17th at 9AM. A Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 10AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday from 4:00-8:00PM. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery in Lynn. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B102, Danvers, MA 01923.
